A few weeks ago, my wife and I took our girls to the 2009
Battle of the Badge softball game. It was a beautiful day, so we decided to bring Belle, our Great Pyrenees dog, along for the ride. What a fun event! They had great food, face painting for the kids, and Belle enjoyed getting out of the house and meeting new people (and a few new dogs).
Wouldn't it be fun to plan a big community event where we could all get together with our pets? My fence blew down on June 11th, the morning after the big storm, and I lost one of my dogs. Sometimes we take our pets for granted. This could be a great opportunity to give our furry friends a little TLC.
How cool would it be to have an annual pet event here in Lewisville? The Lewisville Area Charity Dog Show. I've already spoken with a few businesses that are interested in sponsoring an event like this if we put it together. We could raise money to upgrade the
Lewisville Animal Shelter, or for the
SPCA, or for another worthy pet charity (Not
PETA. Anything but PETA).
I'd love to hear your thoughts. Would you enjoy getting together and showing off your dog for a day?
Email me and let me know what you think. Oh, and make sure to check out the
Lewisville Pets group on Facebook!
