Social Point Network
If you're looking for the Social Point Network, the social television experience available on Time Warner Cable, you're in the right place. This is the home of social TV. You may have noticed some changes to the SPN website. There's much more than just television content. Winston Edmondson, the founder of the Social Point Network, took some time off to run for mayor of Lewisville, Texas. While campaigning, he discovered that there was a real need for community based online social networking tools. Now that he's back, we'll be looking at ways we can help address that problem. Please be patient while we get everything back up and running.

Gorena makes it official, takes oath of office

Congratulations to John Gorena, who is now officially on the Lewisville city council. He was sworn in on Thursday, June 18th. The swearing in ceremony wasn't without a little controversy, though.

During the general election and the runoff election, I was uncomfortable with the mayor and members of the city council endorsing candidates. Ueckert, Tierney, and Thornhill each endorsed John Gorena's opponent. It struck me as something that a true statesman would refrain from. After all, you never know how an election will turn out. It seemed tacky to me to endorse someone, knowing that you may end up working closely with the candidate you campaigned against.

Greg Tierney, who was probably the most outspoken supporter of John Gorena's rival, was nearly 20 minutes late for the swearing in ceremony. His presence was necessary to create a quorum, so there could be no official business until he arrived. Tierney, who owns a local restaurant, prioritized his personal business over the official city business. Would he have been as discourteous if his preferred candidate had won the election? We'll never know.

If Tierney decides to run for re-election in 2 years, I'll certainly remember that his restaurant comes before the needs of the city.
